# Norwegian company data MCP

Brønnøysund / brreg API for AI. Skai puts Norwegian company data inside the assistant you already use. Search companies, check financials and explore group structures without another dashboard, account or API key.

## Six tools. One connection.

- `search_norwegian_companies`: Find Norwegian companies for your research.

- `get_norwegian_company`: Look up a company and its registered details.

- `get_norwegian_company_financials`: Check available company financials.

- `get_norwegian_company_group`: Explore a company’s group structure.

- `find_norwegian_industry_codes`: Find industry codes to focus your search.

- `find_norwegian_company_websites`: Find company websites for further research.

## Connect your AI assistant

Connect to https://tools.skaidigital.com/brreg/mcp using Streamable HTTP. No authentication, no API key. Use norwegian-companies as the server name. Restart or reconnect your client after saving its configuration.

Merge the relevant entry into your existing client configuration; do not replace other servers or settings.

In Claude, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector and paste the endpoint as the remote MCP server URL, if your version supports custom connectors. For Claude Desktop without remote connectors, use the fallback below in claude_desktop_config.json. It runs mcp-remote locally and requires Node.js.

### Endpoint

```text
https://tools.skaidigital.com/brreg/mcp
```

### Cursor (~/.cursor/mcp.json)

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "norwegian-companies": {
      "url": "https://tools.skaidigital.com/brreg/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

### Claude Desktop (claude_desktop_config.json fallback)

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "norwegian-companies": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "mcp-remote",
        "https://tools.skaidigital.com/brreg/mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

### Claude Code

```shell
claude mcp add --transport http norwegian-companies https://tools.skaidigital.com/brreg/mcp
```

### VS Code (.vscode/mcp.json)

```json
{
  "servers": {
    "norwegian-companies": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://tools.skaidigital.com/brreg/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

### Gemini CLI (~/.gemini/settings.json)

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "norwegian-companies": {
      "httpUrl": "https://tools.skaidigital.com/brreg/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

## Try these prompts

- Find Norwegian companies named Skai Digital and show their organisation numbers and registered details.

- Find industry codes for software development, then help me search for relevant Norwegian companies.

- Look up this organisation number. Summarise its available financials and group structure, and flag missing data.

- Find the websites for these Norwegian companies so I can research potential B2B partners.

## Open register data. Built for real work.

Company data comes from open Brønnøysund Register Centre APIs, including Enhetsregisteret. The register data is available under the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD) 2.0. Attribute the source when reusing it and check the licence terms. Open data does not mean the hosted server is open source: Skai’s hosted MCP server is closed source.

[NLOD 2.0 licence](https://data.norge.no/nlod/en/2.0)

Use the register as a source, not an AI-generated summary as proof. Availability and coverage vary, especially for financials and group structures. Verify important details with Brønnøysund before making commercial or legal decisions. Website discovery is a research aid, not proof that a domain belongs to a company.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is the Norwegian company data MCP free?

Yes. Skai’s hosted endpoint is free to use, with no account, authentication or API key.

### Is this a brreg API or Enhetsregisteret API for AI?

It is an MCP interface over open Brønnøysund APIs. Your AI assistant calls tools for company search and lookup instead of you building a direct register API integration. For selskapsoppslag, start with a company name or organisation number.

### Which AI clients can use it?

Use an MCP client that supports Streamable HTTP, such as Cursor, Claude with remote connectors, Claude Code, VS Code or Gemini CLI. Claude Desktop can also connect through the local mcp-remote bridge shown above.

### Where does the data come from and can I reuse it?

The source is the open Brønnøysund Register Centre APIs. Register data is licensed under NLOD 2.0. Follow its attribution and other reuse terms. Availability of a particular company’s financials or group structure is not guaranteed.

### Is the hosted MCP server open source?

No. The hosted server is closed source. The [GitHub repository](https://github.com/skaidigital/brreg-mcp) provides the public documentation and setup information.

### Can Skai build this into our workflow?

Yes. Skai builds AI agents and integrations that turn company research into useful B2B workflows. Book a discovery call to map the data, checks and handoffs your team needs.
