Shopify development services

We build Shopify stores and the integrations, apps and B2B tools around them, as a small team in Oslo you work with directly. Projects start from $10,000, and we don’t take small theme adjustments.

“Skai Digital has been extremely skilled, service-oriented, and professionally competent in their process with us... I am extremely satisfied with the collaboration and would recommend anyone who needs similar services to speak with Skai before ordering services elsewhere.”

How a project runs

The same four steps whatever we’re building. You work directly with the people doing the work from the first call.

  1. A call about what’s getting in the way

Book 30 minutes. Bring a problem, an idea or a brief. We’ll tell you whether we’re the right team, and if something smaller or an existing app would do the job, we’ll say that too.

  2. Scope and price

We look at your store, your systems and what success should look like, then agree the work and the price with you before anything starts.

  3. Build and test

We build and test it with you, away from your live store, so customers only see it once it works.

  4. Launch and look after it

We launch in a window you agree to and watch it closely. Then we stay on as your development team if you want us to, or you hire your own developers or choose another partner.

What every project includes, and what costs more

We talk through what you need on a discovery call, then agree the scope and price with you before any work starts.

Every project includes

  • A discovery call, then a documented scope and price
  • Direct work with the people building it
  • Testing before anything reaches your customers
  • The launch, and close monitoring after it
  • Code you own, so you can keep us or move on

What pushes it up

  • A full storefront rather than one defined piece of work
  • A new design
  • Integrations with your ERP, warehouse or shipping systems
  • Custom apps and checkout extensions
  • B2B pricing, wholesale ordering or a trade portal
  • Several stores, markets or languages

Frequently asked questions

How much do Shopify development services cost?
Projects start from $10,000, and Shopify Plus work from $30,000. Headless builds typically run $30,000–$100,000. We agree the scope and price with you before work starts. Your Shopify subscription and apps are separate.
Do you take small theme adjustments?
No. We don’t take small theme adjustments, such as a new section, a colour change or a template fix. Shopify’s partner directory lists partners who offer theme customization.
What’s the smallest project you take?
On Shopify, a defined project from $10,000, such as one migration, one integration or one custom app. Our smaller projects are internal dashboards and AI agents, not small Shopify jobs.
Are you a Shopify development company or an agency?
Both words describe the same thing here. Skai is a small Shopify development agency in Oslo and a Shopify Select Partner, with clients in Norway, Europe and Australia. We work in English and Norwegian, and you deal directly with the people building your store.
What counts as custom Shopify development?
Anything a theme setting or an existing app can’t do. For our clients that has meant a shoe configurator, prices that follow the metals market, B2B quoting and campaign previews. We build on Shopify’s native storefront when that fits and go headless when it doesn’t.
How long does a Shopify build take?
A full storefront build typically takes around 12 weeks, followed by 4 weeks of close monitoring. A smaller project has its own scope and timeline, which we agree with you before starting.
Do we need Shopify Plus?
Not every store does. Revenue alone doesn’t settle it: Plus is worth considering when its checkout, B2B or multi-store features solve a specific need. Compare them in our Shopify vs Shopify Plus guide.
Can you work with our existing team?
Yes. We can take on part of the work alongside your team or handle the full build. We settle who does what on the first call.
Who owns the code?
You own the store and code we build for you. You can keep working with us, hire your own developers or choose another partner. Software from other companies has its own terms.
What happens after launch?
We look after what we’ve built and keep improving it with you if you want us to. We agree the priorities, scope and commercial terms together, so you know what the ongoing work includes.
“You will never work with anyone that is as painless, as good, as creative and as knowledgeable as you guys … I have only praise to say”
Luisa ArangoHead of Marketing & Ecommerce at Kastel Shoes
